To run MovingPicture  or OnStage! you will need some of the following files. They are all in self-extracting ZIP format to speed up the downloading process. Once downloaded, double-clicking on the file will uncompress them to the directory they will operate from, ("c:\onstage" for example).

To use MovingPicture, you will need to download Support.exe and MovingPix.exe. The OpenGL.exe file should also be downloaded if you do not already have OpenGL on your computer. Windows NT,2000 and later versions of 98 already have OpenGL installed.

To use OnStage!, you will need to download Support.exe and OnStageVis.exe , plus the Sample.exe files if you want to download some sample sets and actor files. The OpenGL.exe file should also be downloaded if you do not already have OpenGL on your computer.

The Support and OpenGL files need to be downloaded only once, since they seldom change, but the OnStage! Application file is updated constantly, so it is advisable to download the latest version if it has changed since you last downloaded it.

Please read the license agreement on the bottom of this page. By downloading the software, you are agreeing to its terms.

Files:

Name of File Last Update Approximate Size
MovingPix.exe 4/15/01/ 240 KB
OnStageVis.exe 4/15/01 240 KB
Support.exe (Both products) 4/15/01 800 KB
OpenGL.exe 5/30/99 350 KB
Samples.exe (Onstage only) 5/30/99 320 KB

After Downloading:

Each of these files is a self-extracting archive file. Once downloaded, double-click on each file, and a dialog box will appear, asking you to specify the directory to place the extracted files. Choose the same directory (i.e. c:\StageTools) for each file. Run the application by double clicking on it's icon. Alternatively, you can create a shortcut on your desktop, or add the program to your "Start" menu.

Getting Started with OnStage!:

The best way to understand OnStage! is to take a look at the sample show provided. Load the Show by choosing (oddly enough) the Open option in the File menu, and select the show called "Sample.shw."

Most likely, a series of question boxes will appear, helping you find where the various Actors and Set Panels are located. This is because, when a show is saved, the path names (directory locations) are saved within the show and Set files. If you have moved those files to a different directory, OnStage! will ask you if you want to find their new location when you load the file.

Play around with moving the Camera around the Set, and playing the Show, using the Player Controls. Look over the manual, and try changing some of the actions. The manual can be read and printed if desired.

NOTE: OnStage! and MovingPicture require your computer's display to be able to show 32,000 (16-bit) colors or more. This is easily set by right-clicking on your screen and changing the Settings Option to 16 or 24 bit color.
