Macintosh Download

To run MovingPicture, you will need one of the following files, depending on the editor you use.

MovingPicture for Avid editors (32-Bit)
MovingPicture for Avid editors (64-Bit / MC6+, requires MacOS 10.7+)
MovingPicture for FinalCut Pro (Universal: Intel and PPC)
MovingPicture for Premiere (64-bit / CS5+)
MovingPicture Producer Standalone (Universal: Intel and PPC)

NOTE: Avid 32-bit versions of cannot read moves from shows created using the 64-bit version.

IMPORTANT NOTES FOR FINAL CUT PRO

  • We do not support version X of Final Cut Pro.

  • When using the plug-in within FCP, you need to put a placeholder image on the editor's timeline in order to use MovingPicture in the editor. The most intuitive thing to do would be to use the hi-res image you want to do the moves on as the placeholder. But MovingPicture does not load the image from the timeline, as most editors automatically down-scale the image to video-res, making zooming-in look "pixilated."

  • Final Cut will render SIGNIFICANTLY slower using a high resolution image on the FCP timeline. Since we ignore the placeholder image anyway, the best thing to use is a piece of video footage from the show, or a video-sized (i.e. 720 by 480 pixel) image).

After Downloading

The downloads are compressed into a ZIP format. Some browsers will automatically decompress the .zip file into a folder. Double-clicking on a ZIP file will expand it into a folder. Inside the folder is the help file, called QuickStart.html, a read-me file called ReadMe.rtf and the application itself, called MovingPicture. Move the resulting MovingPicture file into the proper folder required by your editor if you are using the plug-in version.

Where to put the Plug-In

  • After Effects looks in the Plug-ins\Standard\Effects  folder for plug-ins.
  • Avid32 editors look in the AVX_Plug-Ins  folder for plug-ins.
  • Avid32 editors look in the /Library/Application Support/Avid/AVX2_Plug-Ins  folder for plug-ins.
  • Final Cut Pro for OS-X  looks in the Library\Application Support\Final Cut Pro System Support\Plugins folder for plug-ins.
  • MovingPicture Producer  can be placed in any  folder.

Take a moment to check the FAQ's (frequently asked questions)

  • MovingPicture does not extract the picture to move from the NLE's timeline, as most limit the resolution that is passed onto any plug in to the final output video resolution, which is too small for zooming into without breaking up. Use the Load Picture menu option in the MovingPicture interface to load your image.
  • When rendered, a red bar will appear in the middle of the image. This will disappear when the product is registered, but you will need to re-render the move.

Using  MovingPicture in Avid

  1. Drag a clip to the timeline. This should be video clip or a video-size still. Placing the hi-res still will slow rendering and may cause other problems.
  2. Make the clip's length the time you want the move to occur in.
  3. Open up the "Effects Palette" from Avid's "Tools" menu.
  4. Drag the MovingPicture effect over the clip.
  5. Click on the setup effect button under the source/master screens.
  6. The "Effect Editor" palette will open and MovingPicture icon will appear in the top line.
  7. Click (or double click) on the MovingPicture icon on the left side.
  8. The MovingPicture user interface will come up on one of the screens.
  9. Load a picture using the "Load Picture" option in the "Files" menu.
  10. Move the yellow camera until the starting position is reached.
  11. Click on the timeline to set the time for the position you want to go to next.
  12. Move the yellow camera until the next position is reached.
  13. Play the move using the controls on the Viewer.
  14. Click on the round "OK" button.
